Hunter and Riley are in their second week of swimming lessons and they love it!!! Riley actually goes underwater and will swim out to her teacher now!!! At first she'd say "I don't want to go underwater" and then she'd reluctantly do it (even though I know she loves to go underwater.) Now she's doing her Tigger Bounces and everything! She even went down and picked up a ring - not on the steps!!! She just needed to be reminded how much she loves to be in the pool after a whole year of not going swimming. Now every five minutes she asks if it is time for swimming lessons. Also very fun!
Hunter is doing really good too. He can actually do a freestyle stroke, which I can't, and he breathes out to the side when he does it, another thing I can't do. It isn't perfect of course, but still really good. And he swims on his back really good too. In fact yesterday they were doing the frog kick on their backs, and he was going super fast. Mary (their teacher) went to grab his foot before he hit the pool, and missed because he was going too fast and he bonked his head on the pool. He's got a little knot on the top of his head, but got right back in and kept swimming!
Another thing, is my kiddos are so cute to each other. Riley will look over at Hunter and tell him "great job!" Hunter will wait for Riley to have her turn and he'll tell her "you're doing great Riley! that was awesome" and things like that. (they have swimming lessons at the same time but with different teachers in the same pool) And yesterday when Hunter hit his head, Riley immediately got out of the pool to check on her brother! And told him "it's okay Hunter, it's okay" Again I'm not trying to say that they are ALWAYS like this, but it is nice to see them act like that every once in while.
So in the midst of all of this...how much is it to get a pool put in at our house?!!?!? Maybe next year.....or in 15.

I can't do any of those swimming strokes either, whenever i try to breathe to the side i end up half drowning instead and have to sputter out water and rub my eyes. Whenever I try to do a turn in the water like the swimmers do at the end of the lane, i always end up 4 feet to the left, don't ask me how I do it, just skills I guess. It's those nelson genes, hunter will be a world class swimmer =)
